Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2014, an entrance examination conducted all over India, is in fact organized and regulated with the joint collaborative effort of the Indian Institute of Science (IISc.) and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs at Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board - GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.


GATE 2014 entrance exam will be conducted in multiple sessions having 21 papers in all (Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology, Chemistry, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Geology and Geophysics, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Physics, Production and Industrial Engineering, Textile Engineering and Fibre Science & Engineering Sciences and Life Sciences) through the constitution of eight zones. This test will be held from 1st February to 2nd March, 2014. The smooth conduction of examination and declaration of results is chiefly bank upon the committee, comprises of the representatives from different administering institutes appointed by Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).


The overall organization and accountability of conducting Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2014 lies with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, selected as the Organizing Institute for GATE 2014. The zones and the corresponding administrative institutes are:
